AI is Taking Over Your Everyday Life
From Alexa to shopping, AI is making things way easier, but is it getting too involved?
Artificial Intelligence is everywhere and it's not just something of the future anymore. It’s sneaking into your daily life in ways you might not even realize, from the voice assistants on your phone to the algorithms that know exactly what movie you’ll want to watch next.
“I use Siri all the time,” senior Kynnedy Haris said. “It sets reminders and stuff, oh, and my alarm.”
AI assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant have become common in many households, helping people stay organized and connected. You can ask these assistants to do pretty much anything and for many it's hard to imagine life without them.
But now it’s not just voice assistants. AI is also taking over our shopping too. Netflix always seems to know what you want to watch next or Amazon is recommending stuff you didn’t even know you needed based off one search you made. That’s all AI at work.
“AI is just like in movies now it’s crazy,” senior Jacobi Young said. “Ya I won’t be surprised if it comes back and kills us all seriously.”
And it's not just for entertainment and shopping. AI is also doing a lot of work behind the scenes at places like schools and taking over many jobs. AI tools and chatbots are helping businesses answer customer questions or process tasks faster than people can.
But even though AI makes things easier, it’s not all smooth sailing. Some people are worried that all this tech could cause problems, like replacing jobs or making us too dependent on machines.
“Some entire fields might become all AI in the future,” FAMU junior Sydney Friley said. “If we let AI take over too much, we might lose jobs, and we could start depending on it too much for basic tasks.”
Still, whether it's helping you pick out your next playlist or sending you the perfect video in your recommended, AI has been here and is here to stay. The question is how much more involved will it get?
