Why You Should Attend School Events
In high school, events thrown by the school are not things to simply ignore. They make your high school experience more memorable and are opportunities to connect, create memories, and enjoy time with friends.
Each year, regardless of grade level, students are invited to enjoy or participate in the international fair. This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with different cultures, learn about their histories and traditions, and admire their beautiful dances and traditional attire in a very enjoyable manner. Those who participate can contribute by creating country-themed booths, showcasing traditional clothing or flags in the fashion show, or performing cultural songs or dances.
Another event open to students of all grade levels is homecoming. Homecoming is a formal school dance where you can dress up and enjoy the night with friends and schoolmates in a well-decorated venue. There's usually a photo booth and many opportunities to capture memories through the event, and you'll even have the chance to enjoy nice foods, sweets, and drinks. Additionally, a DJ will provide entertainment, playing your favorite songs and keeping things fun throughout the night. Prom is also similar but with a theme, taking place later in the school year, and is only available to upperclassmen or those invited as dates.
Even if it’s your last year, and you’re a senior, it’s not too late to join in on the fun. Towards the end of the school year, there will be fun events like prom and grad bash. Grad Bash is an opportunity you can only get once, so I encourage you to not miss out. A theme park such as Universal Studios is open strictly for seniors of different schools for the day, which is exciting in itself. You can enjoy the park with your friends, even ones from different schools. This is only available for senior students who meet the school’s guidelines, so try not to miss out.
One thing that students often look forward to in our school is the Paxon vs Stanton game. The game takes place once a year and to make things exciting, there is a spirit week leading up to the day of the game and students can attend the game to show school spirit and support their school against our rival school.
“I actually kind of regret skipping events like the football games to go with friends because I never got to experience it,” alumnus Ester Tsin said.
Not attending these activities may lead you to regret in the future because they are fun experiences you only get to have during high school. These events provide opportunities to show off your unique style and present your best self while creating lasting memories. Missing out means losing the chance to create memorable moments in high school with your friends and school community. Overall, taking part in these events can make high school more fulfilling and leave you with memories you'll always treasure.
