They See Me Rolling
The varsity bowling team has a great shot at winning their district game on Oct. 22.
The bowling team has been killing it so far with only one loss this season. They are so close to the finish line and have a great chance this season at winning districts. However, it was not always like this. Mr. Estes, the bowling team assistant, recalls how at the beginning of the season athletes were rolling lower scores, but due to the introduction of hand braces, there has been a significant improvement across the scoreboard. One athlete, Alexis Hartley, describes how the “hand braces [created] support on the wrist to help keep the hand stable when bowling” to prevent slight curves and decrease the chances for rolling lower scores.
Undoubtedly, this new tactic helped keep a straight bowl, and the straighter the ball, the more likely players will be able to throw a perfect strike. Moreover, Hartley made a shoutout to a few girls on the team who had exceedingly high scores, praising, “Everyone’s doing a really good job, and everyone’s improved and it's amazing, and there is a lot of admirable players on our team this year like Jazmine, Leilani, Katheryn, and Aaliyah, [who have their own style and are dominating the game].” Hartley goes on to explain how, although the atmosphere with the athletes is competitive, it is fun and feels like a “little family” where they can all come together and learn from each other.
With their new tactic and strong community of players, there is no doubt why the girl’s bowling team is doing amazing this year!
