“Hamilton” Review

The eleven-time Tony award-winning Broadway musical “Hamilton” made an appearance in Jacksonville. The show lasted for two and a half weeks, starting Sept. 29 and ending Oct. 17. It was a phenomenal show with brilliant acting, singing, rapping, and choreography.

The actors put their own take on each of the characters and made them different from the original Broadway cast. The actors truly did them justice, despite being a bit different. Marcus Choi, who played George Washington, and Jared Dixon, who played Aaron Burr, really stood out the most with their vocals and stage presence. The Schuyler sisters blended beautifully with their harmonies.

Eliza Schuyler, played by Stephanie Jae Park, brought a lightness to the music and was able to hit her high notes effortlessly. Angelica Schuyler, played by Ta’Rea Campbell, brought a strong emotion to the show that left me on the edge of my seat. King George, played by Neil Haskell, brought an interesting take on his character that I’m not sure I liked. He did an odd voice that didn’t really fit his character, but the other actor’s voices made up for it.

The set itself was incredible and looked very well made. The effects that the set made with the spinning floor was amazing. Overall, the show and the experience were outstanding.
